Technology Integration and Math Teacher
We are seeking a Technology Integration (JK-Grade 8) and Math Teacher (Grade 4) to work in our Junior and Middle School. With strong communication and collaboration skills as well as a proven ability to build a caring rapport with students, the successful candidate will join the Technology Integration and Junior Division teams and report into the Junior School Technology Experience Designer and Coordinator.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Create a class environment that inspires and supports learning and personal growth;
- Establish effective rapport with students and motivate students to develop skills and knowledge;
- Deliver program electronically and use electronic communication to correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community;
- Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with IB and Ministry of Education curriculum ensuring differentiation;
- Develop course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of PYP curriculum, with a focus on inquiry based learning;
- Update all necessary records accurately as required by Ministry, IBO and school guidelines;
- Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher interviews;
- Keep up to date with developments in subject area and approaches to teaching and learning;
- Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings;
- Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities.
Technology Integration Teaching:
- Work shoulder to shoulder with faculty to plan, write, teach and assess units of inquiry that incorporate technology and STEAM/Maker concepts;
- Design and teach lessons to various grade levels in the Junior School Maker Space;
- Build capacity and comfort with a varied set of technologies and tools amongst Junior and Middle School faculty;
- Provide support for the Integrated Communication Technology program;
- Collaborate with IT to deliver support to the overall curriculum experience.
Math Teaching:
- Working as a partner to the Grade 4 homeroom teachers, be responsible for the planning, writing, teaching and assessment of the daily math curriculum;
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with J/S qualifications in Mathematics;
- Minimum three years’ teaching experience;
- Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset;
- Maker experience is a strong asset;
- Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop environment;
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills;
- Work independently with little direct supervision;
- Work as part of a team;
- Demonstrate strong work ethic to achieve academy goals;
- Display effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
