Instructional Technology Leader
The Robert Louis Stevenson School is a longstanding small, coed, independent secondary school on the Upper West Side. With a robust, supportive Advising and Clinical structure, we serve bright adolescents who have struggled in a traditional school setting. Students at Stevenson may be struggling with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) adjustment problems, anxiety, depression, or difficulties with peers. Starting with the Fall 2017 term, Stevenson is offering a full-time position to coach teachers in instructional technology use and teach classes related to the field.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement a school wide plan to develop instructional technology use
- Implement teacher-specific coaching to develop instructional technology use across classes
- Seek and maintain understanding of emerging instructional technology and learning theory
- Provide assistance in selecting effective technology tools
- Prepare and implement computer coding and other Technology classes in a high school program
- Base curricular and instructional decisions on a knowledge of differentiation and a deep understanding of personal learner profiles
- Consider and actively seek colleague input and new understandings of students
- Maintain clear, purposeful records of class plans and student performance
- Establish and maintain clear communication with colleagues and an ongoing personal development plan
Qualifications
- High School or Middle School teaching experience
- 3+ years using current and emerging instructional technologies
- Expertise with Google Apps and incorporation of instructional technology in curricular and instructional design
- Comfort creating and teaching a variety of Technology classes
- Excellent written and verbal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Advanced Education degree and/or advanced degree from related field
- Has received Teaching certification in any state (NY not required)
- Interest in receiving frequent support and feedback from other teachers, the Learning Specialist, Curriculum Coordinator, and other colleagues
- Humor, patience, poise, and an ability to purposefully balance structure and flexibility
