INSTITUTION: Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) is a 2-year comprehensive community college in the center of Maine serving approximately 2400 students from Somerset, Kennebec, and Knox counties and well beyond. In 2014, KVCC expanded its Fairfield-based operation to include a new 600-acre Harold Alfond Campus in Hinckley, Maine. SALARY: Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System and the MSEA Support Services Bargaining Unit. Range 25, Hourly Rate ($23.62 - $27.07). Benefits include: Retirement in the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) - in lieu of Social Security; full employee health/dental insurance and approximately 60% of cost for dependent coverage; life insurance paid by the MCCS; Vacation 12 days/year; Sick 12 days/year; and 12 paid holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and up to four years of experience working with application and database development and systems design.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Programmer Analyst will work with limited supervision and requires a high level of technical expertise and broad knowledge of programming methodologies, standards and languages. The position performs both system analysis, development, and maintenance of computer application systems in a complex data, server and network environment utilizing languages such as Visual Basic, PHP, Java, C++.

Working with the College's Information Technology staff and database user community, this position is responsible for developing written application specifications & scope, designing these applications using industry standards and best practices, and also backing up, performing regular maintenance on, and troubleshooting College database systems.

The position requires critical thinking skills to interpret federal, state and institutional policies, rules and laws, and is expected to analyze and recommend changes to business processes and practices as appropriate.

Broad requirements or requested functions are often provided to the individual holding this position, and he or she is responsible for translating these into a detailed, written system designs for review and eventual testing, implementation and training.

This position is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of the information stored in the College's Student Information System and all other databases used by the College.
