The Hun School of Princeton seeks a dynamic and knowledgeable Technology Support Specialist to provide technology support and training for students, staff, and faculty members.
Reporting to the Systems Administrator, the Technology Support Specialistworks closely with the Systems Administrator and the Educational Technology Coordinator to ensure the successful and effective use of technology throughout the campus.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Provide end-user help desk support for students, faculty members, and staff;
- Maintain timely and accurate responses to help desk requests using the helpdesk ticketing system;
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues;
- Facilitate hardware repairs with third party vendors when necessary;
- Troubleshoot end-user devices on the network (printers, copiers, VoIP phones);
- Assist with faculty and staff professional development;
- Assist with student, faculty and staff technology orientation;
- Assist with training of students related to digital tools and best practices;
- Create documentation and knowledge articles on best practices both internally for IT Department and entire school community;
- Create, test, and deploy software packages and updates for all Apple devices;
- Migrate user data between devices as needed during hardware refresh periods;
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain inventory of MacOS/Windows servers/computers and iOS devices, as well as peripherals, software, printers, and A/V equipment;
- Provide technical assistance during school functions;
- Support System Administrator with basic network support (Virtualization, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, etc.);
- Expected to maintain professional development levels as technology evolves.
Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school is required;
- Thorough knowledge of imaging concepts and tools such as Casper Imaging, DeployStudio, AutoDMG, etc.;
- Advanced knowledge of Apple/Windows Operating Systems and Hardware;
- Experience with Jamf Pro, Apple’s DEP and VPP;
- Knowledge of Google Apps for Education preferred;
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions;
- Ability to learn and support new business systems, software and processes;
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and to coordinate with other IT functional areas to resolve and manage resolution;
- Experience in an independent school or college preferred;
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor in stressful situations;
- A collaborative, trust-based work style;
- Personal qualities including resilience, approachability, and kindness;
- Ability to periodically work beyond and outside the typical work day (evenings/weekends may be required) in order to meet the needs of the IT department and the School;
- Must pass State of New Jersey Criminal Background check.

This Technology Support Specialist position is full-time, twelve (12) months per year, exempt, and benefits eligible. The working environment is an office and school environment on a hilly 45-acre campus in Princeton, New Jersey. The abilities to occasionally lift files, storage boxes and equipment, walk up and down stairs, attend meetings in varying locations throughout campus, and continually use computers and related office equipment are required. Not all buildings on campus have elevators. All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a full criminal history background check.
