RESPONSIBILITIES:

The College is seeking an experienced and collaborative administrator to provide leadership and oversight of College's Business, Education, Computing, and Applied Technology Division, which encompasses degree programs as well as certificate programs in occupational fields and specialized training for business and government organizations. 

The Dean is responsible for managing academic programs, leadership in academic strategic planning, originating curriculum development and innovation, and program discipline review; developing and supervising the implementation and evaluation of corporate and professional training programs that meet the needs of business, industry, and community; integrating credit and non-credit courses to facilitate pathways for student success; utilizing data analytics for strategic decision making including the potential creation of a hub for workforce development in the area of applied technology; recommending faculty hiring; overseeing faculty and staff supervision, professional development and evaluation, learning outcomes assessment, program accreditation, building and management, and the constant pursuit of improvement in the learning of students toward college completions; and mentoring staff and faculty and overseeing the faculty promotion and, tenure process.

The position requires collaborating with faculty as well as local and national businesses on the assessment of needs and development and delivery of programs and courses, and documented assessment of student learning to facilitate pathways for student success; utilizing data analytics for strategic decision making;  promoting the use and development of instructional methodologies including technology and delivery modes; recruiting and advising students in programs and supporting student learning through proactive strategies and interventions to improve student retention and success; serving as a liaison for agencies, institutions and other partnerships; developing and maintaining memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and articulation agreements; and performing other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs and in support of the Division's and College's mission and goals. 

This is an exempt administrator position reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. 
 

REQUIREMENTS:

A master's degree in a discipline offered within the Division or a closely related field and five or more years of increasingly responsible management and supervisory experience are required.  Applicants must have five years of full-time teaching experience with demonstrated excellent in evaluating student outcomes, reflecting on teaching practice, and providing leadership in curriculum and instruction.  A doctorate and/or experience as a chairperson or equivalent role at a community college are preferred.

Applicants should have demonstrated ability and experience in the following areas:

  • working collaboratively with multiple constituencies, including faculty, staff, and community stakeholders to create vision and enact direction for the academic programming within the Division and at the College, and to align priorities of the academic programs with the strategic plan and overall mission of the College;
  • innovating academic programs through partnerships with external entities including local, state-wide, and national industry, and using analytical skills to make data-informed decisions about the workforce education and training needs of the larger community;
  • writing and developing proposals such as grants from external sources;
  • demonstrating dedication to the exploration and use of new pedagogies, including cutting-edge technology to deliver, enhance and assess learning; and effectively implement best practices in curriculum, planning, management, and instruction, particularly in response to national trends in teaching and learning;
  •  embracing the continual use of data to improve program and student learning outcomes while fostering a culture of engagement with data analysis and decision making among all members of the Division, including both faculty and staff;
  • providing flexible and responsive leadership of faculty and staff and in managing growth while setting clear expectations and encouraging holistic professional development; recognizing strong performance and addressing performance issues, providing constructive feedback for improvement, and scaffolding employee excellence;
  • embracing equity and inclusion as guiding principles and capitalizing on variability and unique perspectives to achieve program, Division, and College goals; creating a positive, productive, and pluralistic work environment that supports a diverse faculty, staff, and student community;
  • practicing team oriented behavior and demonstrating grit, courage, tenacity, integrity, and patience in the face of challenges; utilizing a growth mindset when devising creative, comprehensive, and compassionate responses to student, faculty, and community concerns.
