Assistant /Associate/ Full Professor of Educational Technology

The University of Florida has embarked on an exciting initiative (the UF Preeminence Plan) to achieve recognition as one of the nation’s top-ranked public research institutions. The Plan calls for as many as 100 preeminence faculty hires in key areas to strengthen UF’s reputation and contributions (rising.ufl.edu). With preeminence status as a goal, the University of Florida recognizes an immediate and urgent need for academic disciplines and educational institutions to provide learning experiences in dramatically new ways. In order to meet this challenge, the University of Florida is creating the UF Online Learning Institute (OLI) and is hiring an interdisciplinary group of faculty to lead and work within it. These faculty members will have appointments within academic units and will be active members of the OLI.

As part of this effort, the School of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education invites recognized scholars to apply for the position of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. This is a nine-month, tenure-track, position with a negotiable start date. The person hired for this position will join similarly targeted new hires in the College of Engineering, College of Journalism & Communications, and College of Fine Arts/Digital World to build a cross-college and cross-disciplinary group of scholars in the UF Online Learning Institute. The position provides a start-up package appropriate to the position.

Responsibilities include:

• Scholarly activities commensurate with expectations of a tenure-track faculty member at a very high research activity university
• Pursuit of external funding in collaboration with colleagues within and outside of the College of Education and as part of the OLI
• Advising and mentoring graduate students
• Online and on-campus teaching
• Service to program, department, college, university and profession

Advertised Salary:
Salary is negotiable, competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to contribute to the national visibility of School of Teaching and Learning programs
• Strong knowledge of a variety of research methodologies
• A Doctorate in teaching and learning or a closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Established and recent record of writing, securing, and successfully managing grants
• Established and current record of scholarly productivity
