The Department of Instructional Technology at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track position in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Technical Leadership (BASTL) program (AA# 03-7-083) at the Assistant level beginning Fall 2018.  Bloomsburg University serves about 10,000 students and is located in a picturesque small town in beautiful north central Pennsylvania, approximately 50 miles southwest of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and 30 miles west of the Pocono Mountains.  The area boasts excellent public schools with an affordable cost of living and abundant lifestyle opportunities.  New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore-Washington metro centers are all within a few hours' drive.
 
The BASTL program was created to provide graduates to employers who are constantly searching for professionals who have expertise in their fields and the leadership and supervisory skills needed to take charge of technical workgroups, project teams and service departments. Bloomsburg University’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Technical Leadership program builds on the expertise graduates gained from their associate degree program. BASTL courses add skills in areas such as business communication and collaboration, online team leadership, project management, staff training development, workplace diversity, accounting and budgets, intercultural communication, and conflict resolution. The BASTL program brings a Bloomsburg University bachelor’s degree to local community colleges as well as the State System campus in Center City Philadelphia. Partner institutions include: Bucks County Community College, Community College of Philadelphia, Harrisburg Area Community College, Lehigh Carbon Community College, Northampton Community College and Reading Area Community College.
 
 Qualifying Experience / Education:
The Department is seeking qualified individuals to teach a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate technical leadership courses, including but not limited to: Leading Virtual Teams, eLearning Concepts, Essential Skills for Technical Leaders, Technical Leadership Capstone, Instructional Design and Intro to Website Development. Interested individuals should possess potential for effective teaching and research. Academic requirements include an earned doctorate in Instructional Technology or Educational Technology or related field from an accredited institution by no later than August 17, 2018.  Preferences include post-secondary level teaching, distance education teaching, project management roles, professional leadership roles, scholarly contributions to the field, professional activities, and information and technological literacy. The position will also include student advising, travel to teach at community college sites and active participation in the growth, development, and events associated with the BASTL program. Demonstrated ability to work with and/or knowledge of diverse populations is preferred. 
 
Instruction will be delivered through on-line and face to face classes and will take place at Bloomsburg University and off site community college partner locations.  Voluntary summer and winter contracts may be available.

Finalists must communicate well and successfully complete the interview process, and teaching demonstration as judged by the department faculty.  Recommendation for hiring by the majority of the regular, full-time department faculty will be made to the Dean.  Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidates will be required to submit to a background check, including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and criminal background check.
