Director of Technology Services
Primary Purpose:
Plan, facilitate, and provide leadership in all areas of district technology.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience: Three to five years of successful professional employment in technology including supervision and/or administration
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
- Ensures that computer services are supportive of the instructional goals and objectives of the district.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the needs of the instructional program as related to the functions of the technology personnel.
- Actively promotes cooperation and collaboration among technology personnel.
School or Department Morale
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills in relating to the staff, and skill in anticipation, managing and resolving conflict.
- Promotes a positive, caring and productive work environment.
- Demonstrates sensitivity and fairness in dealing with staff, students and community members from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Supports programs and actions that facilitate a positive climate for learning and an orderly, purposeful environment.
School or Department Improvement
- Ensures that the mission of the technology department supports the mission of the district.

Personnel Management
- Assists in the development of training options to enable personnel to improve computer skills.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, which facilitates communication of ideas and directions to staff members.
- Identifies and encourages participation in available in-service training relating to technology.
Management of Administrative, Fiscal and Facilities Functions
- Ensures that technological activities are executed in a cost effective fashion and funds are managed prudently.
- Provides a computer repair service and network maintenance service for the district.
- Researches and studies areas where growth and improvement of technological services are needed.
- Ensures that the district computer hardware and software is maintained and upgraded as needed.
- Manages the networks and computer repair facilities in the district.
- Plans and directs the inventory and stock control program for the areas of responsibility.
- Receives and processes work orders for the repair and maintenance of computers and network.
- Assumes responsibility for compiling, maintaining and filing all reports, records and other documents required.
- Applies effectively knowledge of job-specific principles, theories and practices.
Student Management
- Provides a positive role model for NISD students.
- Demonstrates support for the district's student management policies and expected student behavior related to technological operations.
School or Community Relations
- Maintains visibility and communicates with students, parents, teachers and patrons and responds in a friendly, positive and timely manner.
- Demonstrates awareness of district-community needs and addresses those needs as necessary.
- Articulates the district's mission and goals in the area of technology in the community and solicits its support in realizing the mission.
- Demonstrates the use of appropriate and effective techniques for student, parent and patron involvement.
Professional Growth and Development
- Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serves as a role model for all district staff.
- Takes the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
- Formulates goals to enhance professional performance.
- Shares ideas and information with other staff members.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and assist in evaluating the performance of campus instructional technologists and technology staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures and data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
