Executive Director of Technology
Salary: $77,090.00 - $110,934.00 / Annually
Primary Purpose: |

Provide leadership and support for the implementation of instructional and administrative technology in Midway ISD. Monitor and maintain the district’s physical, virtual and network systems. Design, program, modify, and implement system applications for the management of information throughout the district. Plan and coordinate activities of Technology staff |

Qualifications: |
|
|
|
Education / Certification: |
|
|
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related field preferred. Five years’ experience preferred in school technology environment. Must include responsibility for supporting enterprise applications, technical support functions, customer service, repair/replace planning and implementation, etc.
|

|
Special Knowledge / Skills: |
|
|
Strong organizational, communication, planning and interpersonal skills Knowledge of MS SQL and various Windows Systems Knowledge of LAN and WAN network design and installation Knowledge of IP telephony Ability to work with multiple operating systems and network protocols Ability to develop and maintain systems documentation and technical assistance manuals Ability to detect and resolve problems in application software Ability to analyze and resolve computer systems and network problems Ability to analyze and resolve system security and related security issues Knowledge of current trends and practices in school based technology applications Ability to maintain high levels of satisfaction by users/customers Demonstrated ability to work with multiple user groups, including senior management, department personnel, community organizations, and the public Demonstrated ability in long-range planning and oral and written communication. Experience in making oral presentations to diverse groups preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Analysis and Programming |

Conduct detailed systems analysis to define software requirements. |

Write code according to specification to create software that is effective and easy to maintain. |

Create, maintain, and update technical manuals and documentation for internally developed software.

||
Database Administration |
|
||
4. |
Serve as database administrator, ensuring integrity control and data security. |
||
5. |
Identify and purchase/develop programs for special reports/queries. |
||
6. |
Identify application-related problems and recommend solutions.
|
||
Application Support |
|
||
7. |
Provide support for administrative applications (i.e., student, payroll, finance, personnel, etc.) |
||
8. |
Communicate with administrative, campus and clerical personnel to determine processing needs, clarify requests, develop solutions, and provide technical assistance. |
||
9. |
Coordinate business systems-related issues with regional education service center staff including identification and assistance with the resolution of program problems, design of system enhancements, and implementation of system enhancements.

Network Management |
|
||

Identify and resolve network software problems. |
||

Install and test network software, and upgrades. |
||
12. |
Implement and maintain all system configurations. |
||
13. |
Coordinate and monitor system utilization; recommend improvements as needed. |
||
14. |
Develop and implement a district wide security system for all systems; ensure network security by maintaining network, Internet, and E-mail accounts. |
||
15. |
Design and implement backup procedures to ensure that backup of all networks and workstations are performed on a regular basis. |
||
16. |
Assist with development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan.

||
Technical Support |
|
||
17. |
Serve as district liaison to software vendors to maintain appropriate product support. |
||
18. |
Provide assistance to end users to identify and correct equipment and software related problems. |
||
19. |
Develop all bid specifications for district technology purchases and make appropriate recommendations for purchase.
|
||
Leadership |
|
||
20. |
Participate in appropriate professional/community organizations to enhance personal knowledge and build community support/understanding for technology. |
||
21. |
Collaborate with the community and school personnel to develop and make recommendations for the district technology plan. |
||
22. |
Solicit input from technology users in the organization. |
||
23. |
Function in a professional manner respectful of community standards and expectations. |
||
24. |
Provide senior management with reports and information for critical review of operations. |
||
25. |
Stay abreast of trends and development in both technology and the integration of technology in the educational sector that may impact the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the district.

Other |

||
26. |
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. |
||
27. |
Coordinate Technology Department services with all departments and campuses. |
||
28. |
Prepare and administer the Technology Department budget. |
||
29. |
Develop financial requirements to support necessary technology implementation and manage all technology funds, both operating and capital. |
||
30. |
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as a role model for all district staff. |

Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. |
