Primary Purpose of Position

The Technology and Multimedia Production Coordinator coordinates and oversees the provision of technology lending, training, and support services for members of the UNC Charlotte community. The incumbent provides direct support for students, faculty and staff on a variety of technology and multimedia equipment and services including but not limited to desktop and mobile computing, printing, presentation support, and media production. The incumbent provides high level consultation and training to clients of technology and media based systems including individual, group and classroom training sessions both face-to-face and remotely. Additional responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the technology service points and documentation of such activities. Duties may also include basic support of hardware, digital and multimedia applications, operating systems, and networks. This position requires knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support clients’ technical needs. An understanding of innovative products, services, and emerging technology trends in an higher education is essential. The position requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who is a team player and can maintain positive interpersonal relationship with diverse populations. Includes supervision of a staff of several temporary wage employees.

Minimum Education/Experience

Graduation from high school and three years of experience in the administration of a computer system; or a two year technical school degree in computer technology and one year of experience in the administration of a computer system; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties

• Manages and assists with the coordination of the technical team in order to maintain a fully functional computer environment that is adaptive and responsive to changing user needs.

• Stays informed on trends and best practices in technologies and multimedia services.

• Conducts individual, group, and/or classroom training sessions on technologies, digital applications, and tools.

• Sets up and maintain processes and workflows to keep workstations and laptops operationally sound and secure.

• Develops and maintains training modules and support materials.

• Troubleshoots and assists with technology and multimedia projects and services.

• Supervises temporary wage and students workers.

• Assists customers with public computing and printing services.

• Other duties as assigned.

Other Work Responsibilities

As a specialist in the support of Library Technology & Innovation, this position requires strong technical knowledge and skills in Windows and Mac Operating Systems for both desktop, laptop, and mobile applications. Position responsibilities may also include file management, software and hardware installation, and network printer support/administration. The position interacts with a broad range of clients requiring strong communication skills and ability to use a variety of technical resources for providing technical support.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

MLS/MLIS preferred.

• Project Management Certificate or similar training preferred.

• Apple certified training or any other technology certifications.

• Previous experience working with media in a service-oriented and/or academic environment.

• Familiar with Instructional Design and/or Project Management methodology.

• Knowledge of DSLR and video cameras.

• Experience with 3D modeling and printing.

• Knowledge of user interface design.

• Experience with Drupal.

• Basic skills in scripting and programming.

• Ability to learn specialized hardware and software.

• Experience supervising or overseeing employees.
