PRIMARY FUNCTION

In collaboration with District staff and principals, works with teachers on the daily implementation of effective content area/technology strategies, instructional planning, and reflection on classroom practices.

ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP

Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Instructional Technology, provides training and staff development to teaching staff and administration.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in developing and providing staff training for the District’s Middle School Math programs.
  • Provide training and assist District staff with instructional planning, research-based pedagogical practices, assessing student progress and meeting the instructional needs of diverse learners and age groups.
  • Support the implementation of Common Core Standards and instructional approaches that align with the new Standards.
  • Assist staff in the planning and implementation of staff development and other activities in support of the District’s programs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the District’s program of staff development cycles of continuing training.
  • Facilitate and oversee coordination of staff development activities conducted after school hours.
  • Provide and demonstrate classroom lessons, as needed, to teachers.
  • Interface with principals to meet individual site’s staff development needs.
  • Collaborate with and provide leadership to site teacher leaders who provide support to staff at their individual sites.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess a valid California teaching credential and at least three (3) years teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of California Common Core Standards, District Course of Study and District programs.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with individuals and groups of diverse cultural backgrounds is essential.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a team approach to program planning and implementation.
