Position Summary Information
Basic Function |
Under the direction of the Associate Library Director, assumes responsibility for overall management of library technology support; provides library instruction; provides reference and circulation desk services; manages online reference chat for NOVA; participates in collection development, library planning and campus and college activities and committees. |

Duties and Responsibilities |
Forecasts, plans for, implements, maintains and evaluates innovative and responsive technology solutions for onsite and distance library services. Acts as a liaison to technical staff, overseeing library hardware and software. Advocates for emerging technologies and works with staff on technology integration in library and division services. Coordinates patron and staff technology training. Oversees web and social media development and Media Center services. Fosters information literacy by designing, delivering and assessing both traditional and online instruction sessions and providing quality reference services. Participates in collection development activities and serves as a liaison to faculty in assigned divisions. Serves on Library Management Team. Supervises two library specialists and serves on division, campus and College committees. |
Minimum Qualifications |
ALA-accredited Masters in Library Science. Academic library experience, teaching experience, reference experience, collection development experience. At least one year of supervisory and leadership experience, preferably with full-time employees. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Familiarity and vision with trends in the delivery and assessment of services to distance students and marketing of library services. Course management and web design proficiency. Familiarity with library and computer hardware and software and with OPACs. Commitment to continued |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
Knowledge of emerging and existing library technologies, including web development applications, social networking and course management and tutorial creation software. Strong project management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Academic library experience, teaching experience, reference experience, collection development experience. Strong service and teaching orientation and ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural, team environment. |
