Undergraduate Admissions
Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for conducting the admission process for all undergraduate class levels at SF State from beginning to end, including returning undergraduates in accordance with Title V, CSU and SF State policy. There are two admission cycles per year, fall and spring. Undergraduate Admissions assesses the transferability of, and the placement of, non-California Community College and non-CSU system transfer credit for general education and general degree purposes. Position Summary*
|
||
Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Assistant Director for Technology and Operations (AD), collaborates with the Director, lead workers and staff to plan, develop, implement, organize and oversee all technical aspects of the admission and transfer credit processes for both domestic and international student populations operating with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (CS) Database. The AD works collaboratively to use existing technology systems to develop and implement policy and procedures that optimizes efficiency of the staff members within undergraduate admission.
In collaboration with the Director, the AD may manage personnel actions, including employee posting, hiring, evaluation and any corrective action required to maintain effective staffing levels. The AD will also provide leadership and contribute to the planning for future technology directions for the department. The incumbent will work collaboratively to develop, implement, and nurture a long-term vision and strategy for technology, and help other organizational leaders understand the complexities of information resources, service delivery, and technologies as they impact the operations of Admissions. The AD will evaluate and recommend short-term objectives, and develop a long-term technology plan (including training, collaboration, coordination, etc.). The incumbent will work collaboratively and strategically with campus partners to help develop creative solutions in response to admission technology issues, and to ensure coordination and compliance with California State University (CSU) and University policies, and local, state, and federal mandates. |

Minimum Qualifications*
|
||
A bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, along with a minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience leading technology projects including technical experience with CS, academic technology systems, and database tools involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative procedures/policies in the area of CS and related software. Knowledge of organization philosophy, practices, policies and procedures, and strategies; communication principles and strategies; information technologies used in or relating to implementations; policies and procedures and their impact on large-scale systems integration projects; and technologies involved in CS or components of CS systems such as databases, operating systems reporting tools, interfaces, and related third-party systems. The incumbent must have the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the campus organization; work under general supervision; organize and plan work and project tasks and activities, including handling multiple priorities in a project environment; review and understand workflow concepts and principals; conduct systems and business process planning, development, and administration; and take initiative to independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations where numerous demands are involved. The incumbent must have the ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.

Preferred Qualifications
|
||
Advanced study of information systems or a Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in implementing and enhancing enterprise student administration systems preferably within the CSU system or California public higher education; PeopleSoft Student Administration in reference to Admissions, Transfer Credit and Campus Community; knowledge of CSU policies and procedures and their impact on enterprise systems; project management/control or planning methodology for projects or large-scale activities relating to enterprise student administration systems; and Oracle/PeopleSoft products and tools or experience in enterprise student administration implementations. Ability to understand policies and procedures from the Chancellor's Office perspective and how they impact the University.

Environmental/Physical/Special
|
||
The Assistant Director for Technology and Operations is expected to work at scheduled campus events and be available on call as necessary, including evenings and weekends. Occasional in-state travel may be required.
