Design Technology Coordinator

Mulgrave is one of Canada’s leading independent co-educational pre-K – 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are looking for a well-qualified and experienced teacher for the permanent full-time position of Upper School Design/Design Technology Coordinator starting August 2018. 

The Upper School Design/Design Technology Coordinator plays an important mid-level leadership role in the school community. It is a key role that leads, teaching and student achievement in Design/Design Technology for students in Grades 6 to 10/12 in the Upper School. The Design/Design Technology coordinator will report to the Middle and Senior School Principals. While the coordinator will be focused on integrating Design and Design Technology in the IB MYP, a key part of the role will be to collaborate with the PYP Design coordinator to ensure vertical and horizontal continuity and progression. It may be possible to introduce Design as a course in Grade 11/12 at some point.

Ideally candidates will be expected to have:

• Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design/Design Technology
• All of the requirements and certifications to teach in BC
• Appropriate safety qualifications to operate the full range of Design Technology equipment in the Design Studio
• Hold an age appropriate First Aid Certificate
• Experience teaching in a technology rich environment
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff members, students, parents, and outside community agencies and partners
