The Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as a member of the Provost's senior staff and will lead and organize information and technology initiatives, administration, and services across campus. Major areas of responsibility for the CIO include information integrity and security; academic computing; administrative application development, implementation and support; user support; telecommunications and network support; instructional and classroom technology; multimedia development; instructional design and technology; online course and program development and support; and program development and training. The CIO develops, leads, and coordinates the planning process for Informational Technology Services (ITS); communicates about ITS with all stakeholders; collaborates with University offices in regard to ITS issues; and coordinates with the SIU System Office, other universities, and outside agencies as needed. Additionally, the CIO represents SIUE at various meetings and events at both the state and national levels, and manages the human, capital, and budgetary resources necessary to deliver excellent information technology services in support of the academic enterprise. Further duties may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.

1. Master's or terminal degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Instructional Design or related field.
2. Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a large IT environment.
3. Must have a proven record of leadership in an information technology organization, preferably in a higher education setting.
4. Must have a working knowledge of industry best practices, experience in managing projects, strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience in leading organizations through change, and a thorough knowledge of academic and administrative technologies.
