Job Description:

The Project Manager is an integral member of the Information Technology Services team responsible for delivering, building, and developing projects of varying size and complexity. The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to coordinate and organize project activities throughout ITS.   This position will work closely with the Directors to ensure projects are well communicated, staffed appropriately, effectively tracked/updated, and are on schedule. 

Essential Functions

In addition to working in accordance with appropriate conduct and behavioral standards while maintaining a positive and constructive attitude, specific responsibilities of this role include:

  • Facilitating a consensus around  the mission and vision of project management to foster a project management-oriented culture and mindset among stakeholders and organizational leadership.
  • Project planning and implementation, including assessing needs, setting goals and objectives.
  • Participating with relevant staff/committees to determine project requirements.
  • Tracking and ensuring each project is on schedule, as well as providing notification/escalation
  • Developing, tracking & managing change notices and change orders.
  • Ensuring that all stake holders are kept informed about each project including: ITS management, ITS technicians, and all others involved.
  • Participating in the ITS Governance process.
  • Regularly communicating project plans and updates.
  • Leading and/or attending project meetings with stakeholders and/or vendors
  • Reporting project information to the Director of Administrative Computing and ITSM.
  • Developing and providing project metrics when applicable/necessary.
  • Interfacing with customers to ensure that appropriate testing is done pending implementation.
  • Ensuring all projects have complete documentation prior to project closure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Experience using current project management software
  • IT knowledge and experience preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products

Environmental Conditions/Physical Demands

  • General office environment: Works generally at a desk in a well-lighted, cubicle/office, with moderate noise levels 
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed - minimal requirements 
  • Activities require a significant amount of sitting at office and work desks and in front of a computer monitor.
  • Some walking and standing relative to interaction with other personnel. 
  • Ability to lift 20 to 40 pounds
