Under the direction of the Technology Support Supervisor, the Technology Support Specialist supports technical information solutions, and provides first-level technical information systems support to the school community.  Resolves moderately complex technical problems and may provide functional direction to student employees.  Job duties include full support of hardware and software (academic, productivity, core) on both Windows and Macintosh platforms, plus classroom AV and other systems support duties.  Three years technical support experience which includes desktop support and repair of Windows platform required and Macintosh computers a plus; experience in wireless networked and mobile computing; experience in a managed computing environment; and an aptitude for working in a fast paced collaborative team supporting children and adults.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  •  Analyzes and solves hardware/software and network issues on both PC and Macintosh platforms for students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Analyzes and resolves problems on complex computer applications and systems and provides a wide range of in-depth technical assistance to faculty and staff.
  • Install and update software per licensing requirements.
  • Provides individual and/or group instruction and training to students, faculty, and staff on computer technologies, as appropriate.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.  Participates in professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Provides general and in-depth technical guidance, assistance, and maintenance support to end users, as requested, on diverse software applications, operating systems, and hardware systems.  Maintains a high standard of customer service in dealing with and responding to questions.
  • Maintain applicable records including user lists, user accounts and security, and equipment inventory.
  • Maintain classroom, auditorium, and meeting room audiovisual systems.
  • Train and supervise student employees, as appropriate.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the School’s discretion.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Computer related associate or technical degree required.  Technology certifications and bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of network and computer hardware, including Macintosh and PC.
  • Strong application support experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow-up on multiple tasks and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently or as a central figure on a multifunctional team.
  • Ability to work and succeed in a multi-cultural, collaborative peer oriented environment.

  • Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software.
