Position Summary:  This position works collaboratively with the middle and upper school faculty and staff in the development of courses, lesson plans, and supplemental materials in support of a superior, student-centered learning community. This position provides faculty with small-group and one-on-one instructional design assistance, particularly as it applies to sound and innovative pedagogical principles, integrates new and emerging technologies, and explores greater opportunities for faculty development.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner and interact with subject matter experts to identify and select learning objectives, curricular design, delivery methods, and education technologies for assigned grade levels
  • Work with faculty as they develop and teach engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that incorporate technology
  • Provide training and support for the school’s learning management system in alignment with the development, implementation, and management of courses
  • Develop and conduct training programs for faculty based on sound pedagogical principles and the use of instructional technology
  • Develop and conduct training programs for students to incorporate minimum technology skills
  • Conduct post-training follow-up to ensure adoption of new skills
  • Work with faculty and students in the use of the school’s hardware and software resources
  • Develop instructional materials and other electronic instructional information consistent with pedagogical learning theories that encourage an active learning environment
  • Maintain a comprehensive online educational technology resource site for teachers, staff, and parents
  • Make full use of professional development opportunities (further education, reading, workshops, conferences, etc.) and demonstrate creative initiative in keeping current with new and emerging technologies
  • Coach an Upper School FIRST Technology Challenge Robotics Team

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required; advanced degree in teaching, instructional technology/design, or related field preferred
  • A minimum of three years’ experience as an educator or instructional designer required; preferably in an academic environment
  • Expertise in developing instructional design strategies and policies
  • Expertise in developing, evaluating, and designing face-to-face and blended course curriculum
  • Expertise with one or more learning management systems (e.g. Schoology, Haiku, Edmodo)
  • Expertise with one or more eLearning authoring tools (e.g. Office Mix, Jing, SnagIt)
  • Experience teaching robotics (e.g. EV3, FTC, Vex) and/or computer programming (e.g. Java, Python, C) preferred
  • Experience coaching a FIRST Robotics Team (e.g. FLL, FTC, FRC) preferred
  • Experience leading and facilitating meetings and teacher training
  • Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of training methodologies and techniques
  • Experience tracking and monitoring training effectiveness
  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues
  • Superior communication skills with constituents at all levels
  • Proven ability to organize assignments, coordinate with others, manage priorities, and resolve conflicts in a team environment
  • Knowledge of both Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot end-user hardware and software problems
