The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) is the shared services organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges located in Southern California. The Claremont Colleges Library, located at the heart of the seven campuses, is the preeminent academic resource for The Claremont Colleges. Job Summary
The Claremont Colleges Library is seeking an energetic, skilled, and experienced librarian to become its Digital Technologies Coordinator (DTC). The DTC will report to the Director of Digital Technologies and Library Systems and join the new Digital Management Team. Key opportunities include collaborating closely with faculty, students, and library colleagues to create new policies, procedures, and best practices for digital content development; evaluating the library's digital technology needs and projecting its future requirements; analyzing and comparing open source and vendor produced systems and furnishing recommendations for a Next Generation digital platform solution; overseeing digitization projects; and engaging in digital content creation, curation, preservation, and management.
Key Opportunities
- Collaborate closely with faculty, students, and library colleagues to create new policies, procedures, and best practices for future library digital content development
- Evaluate the library's digital technology needs and project its future requirements; analyze and compare open source and vendor produced systems; furnish recommendations for a Next Generation digital platform solution
- Oversee digitization projects; engage in digital content curation, preservation, and management
- Revitalize the library's digital technology operations and workflows
- Create a virtual browse feature for our discovery systems that will support our Active Print program
- Build strong working relationships with digital scholars, content creators, and experts both within the library and across The Claremont Colleges consortium
- Participate at the national level in professional associations and organizations that focus on digital content development; digital publishing and scholarship; emerging technologies; and scholarly communication
Requirements include an MLIS from an ALA accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience, and two years of experience in digital content development and technologies in an academic or research library.
