Responsible for safeguarding information systems hardware, software, related infrastructure and institutional data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, training, and instruction for security engineers, set work pace, and evaluate the performance
  • Participate in the development of schedules, priorities, and the determination of timelines and resource allocation
  • Direct day to day technical activities to maintain a secure, reliable and effective environment responsive to the requirements of computing and information systems
  • Assume a primary role in the development, implementation, and updating of information security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of information security
  • Identify protection goals, objectives, and metrics.  Lead security risk assessment efforts, develop and maintain University awareness and training programs
  • Assist investigations to security breaches and pursue associated disciplinary and legal matters
  • Participate in ongoing technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within Information Technology
  • Monitor information security trends and legislated requirements internal and external to Idaho State University; advising the administration on risk issues that are related to information security and making recommendations in support of University's risk management objectives
  • Interpret and/or discuss information with others that involve terminology or concepts not familiar to many people
  • Other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years IT Security related experience in both application and infrastructure security at the enterprise level
  • 5 years combined professional experience in information security and information technology
  • 5 years successful supervisory or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems and system administration experience
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with an ability to interact well at all levels(technical and non-technical) of the organization
  • Bachelor Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree with a focus on Information Security
  • CISSP Certification
