Collegiate School seeks an energetic and committed Lower School Technology Teacher and Integrator to work with Grades K-4 to advance our programs in Technology and STEAM. This is a full-time (10-month, with two work weeks in the summer), benefited faculty position.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with Lower School faculty and students to effectively integrate technology that engages, enhances and extends teaching and learning in the Lower School
  • Build on existing technology curriculum, integrate STEAM and project-based learning, expand cross-curricular connections, foster innovation and promote collaboration among faculty and students
  • Teach coding curriculum grades K-4 in coordination with the engineering teacher
  • Along with the LS Technology Integrator, teach applications that directly apply to student work in the classroom and within the expected technology benchmarks for each grade
  • Meet regularly with departmental teams to understand their curricular goals and plan effective technology integration strategies
  • In collaboration with the Director of Instructional Technology and LS Technology Integrator, research and share best practices in the use of technology with Lower School teachers
  • Maintain curriculum maps and guides for technology integration
  • Commit to participate broadly in school life and culture
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualities of a successful candidate will include:

  • A Master’s degree in a field that emphasizes educational technology or Virginia teaching certification preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience teaching (evidence of educational technology work preferred)
  • Experience in elementary coding and/or robotics preferred
  • Forward-thinking vision and a demonstrated interest in exploring ways in which technology can engage learners and enhance learning
  • Demonstrated experience with devices, applications and systems related to instructional technology
  • Knowledge of process and strategies used in implementing instructional technology plans
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to relate and collaborate effectively with all members of the school community, especially Lower School students and faculty
  • Enthusiasm for professional growth
  • Strong commitment to students with all learning styles
  • Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
