Visual Arts, Digital and New Media Teacher
Responsibilities
The Visual Arts department seeks an art teacher with a strong background in digital/new media who is experienced working in grades 5th-12th. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to design innovative curriculum, make interdisciplinary connections, and develop our dynamic new media program. Experience in creating a well balanced curriculum in traditional drawing and sculptural media is also important. We seek candidates with knowledge of child development and enthusiasm for teaching in the middle and upper school years. The ideal candidate will also be able to connect with students in support of their work as young artists as well as their development as young adults through their teaching and as an advisor to a small group of students.
Qualifications
· Software and Hardware Expertise such as Adobe, Makerbot, Arduino, First Tech Robotics, and Final Cut
· Expertise in the following New Media Practices: Graphic Design, Animation, Video Production, Filmmaking, Installation/Performance, Sculpture, Digital Photography
· Knowledge of digital print production
· Comfort with computer networks and data management systems
· Ability to supervise and maintain equipment and materials in a technology rich art studio
· Comfort using technology on a mac platform with a google environment
· Prompt and professional communication skills
Required Experience
3+ years preferred
Required Education
Bachelors Degree, Masters strongly preferred
