SUMMARY

Works in and out of the classroom with teachers in the After School program assisting teachers to effectively use educational technology software.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Working under the supervision of the Director of the Extended Learning Program provides training and support, both curricular and technical, in the use of instructional technologies designed to assist meeting the California state content standards in the teaching as well as information literacy. Required to have a broad range of specialized skills and knowledge in order to provide training, instructional technology integration coaching, as well as technical support.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This 1 FTE Extended Learning Program Teacher on Special Assignment position will work with teachers in meeting the academic goals for the district by providing training, instructional technology integration of software and technical support.

ESSENTIAL TYPES OF DUTIES

  • Meets regularly, and works cooperatively department director to establish priority work objectives.
  • Assists teachers in the integration, into their classroom curriculum, of computer-assisted literacy software and information literacy strategies and tools.
  • Provides in-service training and classroom coaching in the use of compute-software and information literacy strategies and software tools.
  • Installs and maintains software applications.
  • Facilitates the resolution of network application issues with the PVUSD Technology Department.
  • Develops on-line teacher resources for support of teachers in the use of computer- software and information literacy strategies and software tools
  • Maintains Extended Learning Program’s computer equipment.
  • Maintains an inventory of software, hardware and other teacher materials.
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in staff development activities provided by both Technology Services and Extended Learning Programs office and site principal.
  • Monitors and collects student performance data on the effects of the use of computer-assisted literacy software.
  • Prioritizes tasks and exercises good time management and organizational skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to accomplish the objectives of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge and skill in the area of instruction. Knowledge of the California Language Arts standards in information literacy. Knowledge and experience using a variety of information literacy software tools, as well as software used to support literacy development. Ability to troubleshoot basic computer desktop and network use problems encountered in the use of the above mentioned software. Strong communication skills.

Abilities: Ability to provide training and coaching in information literacy and computer-assisted literacy development. Requires the ability to communicate with teachers, staff, and administration, using patience and courtesy, and in a manner that reflects positively on the District.

Physical Abilities: Physical ability requirements based on the requirements of the above-mentioned job duties.

Experience and Training: A full teaching credential, a master’s degree in Instructional Technology (preferred), familiarity with both Windows and Macintosh computer platforms and experience with educational software.
