Provide leadership, management, and strategic planning for all aspects of Information Technology systems, support, and services to the academic university. Manage Information Technology staff and budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. Minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training required.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • REASONING: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • MANAGEMENT SKILLS: Must be proficient in Project Management techniques and strategies. Excellent organizational skills are essential as is the ability to understand the time management aspects of a busy IT department. Mentoring the IT staff to be productive and focused in their work.
  • OTHER: Ability to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends as needed. Commitment to implementing the mission, vision and values of a Catholic, Jesuit, university.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Primarily and independently responsible for operational, strategic and fiscal planning for all aspects of the University’s Information Technology (IT) services including innovation, advancement, and implementation.
  • Primarily and independently responsible to manage the University’s IT services including Helpdesk, Network, Server, Administrative, and Web Services including the creation and implementation of policies and standards for the use and management of the University's IT resources.
  • Primarily and independently responsible to manage employees including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Oversee the management and administering of the University's core network infrastructure, Internet connection and Firewall, wired and wireless networks, UNIX/Linux, and Microsoft Windows server systems.
  • Other relevant duties may be assigned by the VP or designee.
  • Compliance Responsibilities: Maintain policies and procedures in assigned compliance area / inventory, reviewing, revising and updating annually and issuing new as regulations and requirements dictate; ensure mandated requirements are met and documentation is maintained per policies and procedures; ensure assigned personnel are fully trained and qualified to perform assigned compliance responsibilities.
