Gateway High School is seeking a dynamic individual with technical and leadership experience to serve as the Head Coach of the Robotics Team, Gator Gears. The Head Coach leads students in developing the skills and knowledge to design and build a successful robot, while fostering a spirit of team building and professionalism throughout the process. The Head Coach is also the primary liaison between the Robotics team, Robotics volunteer mentors, FIRST Robotics, team families, Gateway staff and the larger community.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Team and Volunteer Coordination

  • Serve as the liaison between team members, volunteer mentors, parents and Gateway staff
  • Recruit a diverse group of students for the team that is reflective of the GHS student body
  • Schedule and coordinate meets and competitions
  • Supervise and guide students in building, configuring, and testing the robot
  • Follow and enforce all safety rules and guidelines of the FIRST Robotics program
  • Manage volunteer recruitment, supervision, training, scheduling, etc.
  • Track and manage team budget
  • Engage and encourage parents/guardians to get involved in a variety of ways: provide food during build season, driving to competitions and events, volunteer, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for STEM education and working with youth
  • Technical experience, such as engineering, programming, or industrial arts preferred
  • Ability to teach technical and non technical concepts and skills to students of various learning styles
  •  Strong organization and communication skills

Compensation:
