The incumbent will provide all standard responsibilities of a Computer & Technological Studies teacher at a superior level, working collaboratively with all members of the Computer & Technological Studies department, while supporting the School mission statement, philosophy and all School policies.

The incumbent will engage in full participation in the life of the School. Key responsibilities also include teaching a full course load, supporting the Robotics team, organizing and participating in extra-curricular trips and activities, which may fall before and after school hours and on weekends.

Qualifications

Education:

  •   Qualifications in one of Computer Studies (or Computer Science) or Technological Studies

  •   B. Ed (I/S) and hold a Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT

  •   Honours Specialist and/or Bachelor degree in Computer Studies/Computer Science or Technological Studies an asset

Experience:

  •   Ability to teach computer programming; experience an asset

  •   Contributing to maintaining a positive and collaborative team atmosphere

  •   Prior experience in Robotics (VRC or FRC) an asset

Relevant Skills & Attributes:

  •   Familiar with curriculum and expectations in Computer Studies and/or Technological Education, (i.e. with a focus on Robotics)

  •   Strong teamwork, collaborative planning and instructional skills

  •   Ability to draw from a wide variety of teaching and assessment strategies

  •   Knowledge of current educational programming languages and development environments (e.g. Java, Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Alice, etc.) as well as advanced knowledge of information and communication technologies and their use

  •   Outstanding leadership, communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills

  •   Ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues, parents and students

  •   Demonstrated commitment to girls’ education, and knowledge of girls’ developmental and educational needs; understanding of the middle school and senior school learner

  •   Flexible, creative and innovative 

  •   Commitment to co-curricular activities, coaching, and full participation in the life of the school

  •   A record of encouraging, nurturing, and supporting students’ love of learning
