This is a temporary, externally funded position until July 31, 2019. Continued employment is contingent on sufficient ongoing funding.

The Columbia University Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC) was created to improve the academic performance and overall college readiness of high school students in low-income neighborhoods by providing individualized, high quality tutoring in mathematics that complements and supports education in the classroom. The TLC partners with high schools in the Harlem and Morningside Heights communities and provides all tutored high school students with laptops and free wifi service. Tutors are drawn from Columbia University and Barnard College undergraduates and graduate students. Tutoring provided by the TLC is enhanced by a variety of educational technology interventions and incorporates insights from recent research in self-affirmation, growth mindsets, and the mitigation of stereotype threat. The Center began full scale operation in the Fall of 2016.

Reporting to the Educational Technology Specialist and working closely with other members of the TLC staff, the Service Specialist will play a key role in implementing the hardware distribution program and other aspects of the TLC's technology programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide primary IT support to users of Course Management System and other teaching and learning tools.
-Take primary responsibility for technical support of TLC website; train TLC staff in using content management system to create and upload new content to website.
-Collaborate with CUIT and TLC support staff to purchase laptops and wifi hotspots and prepare them for distribution to tutored students.
-Acquire in-depth knowledge of educational technology systems employed by the TLC.
-Collaborate with Educational Technology Specialist to prepare documentation, training protocols, and troubleshooting guides as needed.
-Serve as primary liaison to CUIT for all TLC computer purchases, repairs, and problems.
-All other duties as assigned.  

Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required.
Minimum 2-4 years' related experience.  
Experience with end user web based application testing.
Ability to interact well with diverse personalities and working styles.
Possess strong analytical problem resolution skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.  
 
-Experience with content/course/learning management systems.
-Experience in IT service delivery in a complex higher education environment.
-Experience in HTML a plus.
-Knowledge or certification in QuickBase
-Knowledge of Adobe Suite
-Knowledge of Google Admin Console
-Genuine interest in education and ed tech policy
