Director of Communications & Marketing
Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, Tennessee seeks a full-time graphic designer who is passionate about beautiful and effective design and who believes in the power of each girl. GPS is committed to offering girls best-in class education and we seek a talented and experienced graphic designer who will help bring our unique value proposition to life. The graphic designer at GPS is responsible for creating high-impact designs to attract, promote and engage key constituents. We seek a professional who is proficient across traditional and digital platforms and who wants to keep growing and expanding their skills and experiences.
Position Summary:
This position reports to the Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing and is key part of the Marketing Communications team. The environment is highly collaborative and fast-paced, similar to an ad agency, with clients in Admission, Development, Academics, Athletics and Arts, among others. Projects include: event promotions, presentations, marketing campaigns, recruitment materials, e-newsletters, magazines, annual report, print, outdoor and web advertising, websites and videos.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of marketing principles and a consultative approach to working with clients to ensure design helps achieve project goals.
- Strong command of design, layout and typography and experienced with print production and prepress.
- Extensive experience working in a creative team environment and contributing strategically to campaign and promotional mix development.
- Proficient in web design to include programming and user interface best practices. Experience with responsive design a plus.
- Experienced in optimizing photography for all mediums.
- Skilled at interpreting copy through infographics, illustrations, and other design methods.
- Skilled at videotaping, editing, production, and motion graphics a plus.
- Photography skills a plus.
Job Requirements:
- 2 to 4 years professional experience as a graphic designer.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts, related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, deadline driven with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Microsoft Office including PowerPoint. Knowledge of Dreamweaver, Flash and web development including HTML and CSS a plus.
- Working knowledge of Google Drive.
- Digital portfolio or website of samples of work.
