Professional Technologist
The WVU Health Sciences Center Information Technology Services department is seeking applications for a Professional Technologist 4. This position is responsible for managing complex projects through solution design, development, installation, configuration to production, participates in all phases of various infrastructure life cycles and change control process for HSC ITS and Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
- Responsible for the technical research IT architecture of information systems, system software, various hardware and communication technologies, and desktop computing technologies.
- Manages projects from inception to completion to help move forward organizational goals and objectives.
- Integrates new projects into ITS strategic and tactical plans tracking team progress.
- Serve as project management process authority, providing project status to HSC IT management and business areas.
- Develops and establishes goals for Neurological Institute’s Research IT strategy, goals and initiatives.
- Develop and manage Research IT budget to maximize value.
- Manage and direct IT vendors to provide high quality networks, systems, and technical support to Rockefeller neuroscience institute.
- Oversee growth of IT infrastructure, including planning of new Research projects, and ongoing improvements in current systems.
- Strong working knowledge of networking, Supercomputing, Virtual Reality, Smartabase, Medical Sensors, Cranial Cloud
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Five (5) years of related work experience.
- An equivalent combination of education, certifications and work experience accepted.
Training or equivalent experience in using Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and various other operating systems on networks, and in standalone configurations. - Demonstrated ability to operate and configure all current and recent releases of Microsoft Windows.
- Experience of VoIP systems and phones operating on the HSC and WVU networks.
- Experience of Remote Desktop Solutions operating on the HSC and WVU networks.
- Demonstrated ability to install computer hardware, operating systems, applications, and utilities on supported computers.
- Extensive knowledge of major software applications supported on HSC computers (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to interface computers and peripheral devices.
- Demonstrated ability to install and operate audio/visual equipment, and high tech. classroom technologies.
- Knowledge of computer security issues, requirements and trends including an awareness of information security laws (such as HIPAA and FERPA) and accepted industry practice.
Outstanding communication skills; ability to present solutions to staff in non-technical jargon. Exemplary project management skills. Positive attitude.
