Director of Information Technology Services
The Director of Information Technology Services oversees all information technology services for Peninsula College, including the information technology infrastructure and technical support system. This position provides leadership for the College’s information technology strategic plan ensuring that Peninsula College is future-ready. The director provides day-to-day management of information services to ensure that faculty, staff and students have access to quality information services. This position will act as Project Manager for all institutional and/or state imposed software implementations. This is an exempt administrative position that reports to the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
The College
Located in the northwest corner of the United States, Peninsula College is nestled in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. The main campus in Port Angeles, Washington, overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the nearby city of Victoria, British Columbia, and has easy access to the Pacific Ocean, Olympic National Park, and Seattle. Essential Functions
- Assess, design, implement, secure, and upgrade the college’s information technology infrastructure.
- Serve as the Chief Information Security Officer.
- In collaboration with the ITSP advisory committee, create and periodically update the college’s strategic technology plan guiding future directions.
- Collaborate with faculty and program directors/deans to integrate technology into classrooms.
- Create, maintain and update the IT Services Administrative Unit Plan.
- Monitor and manage the college IT Services budgets.
- Manage a customer service driven, technical support function for the college community
- Serve as the college project manager for IT/ERP implementation projects, including but not limited to ctcLink.
- Evaluate and select all hardware, software, and networking products.
- Establish task priorities and ensure consistent implementation of best practices, technical standards, and common installation and configuration procedures.
- Recommend IT advancement projects as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with Washington State Office of the CIO IT security policies and guidelines.
- Serve as a participating member on the campus Emergency Management Team and oversee the data security and information technology disaster recovery policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with software licensing and copyright laws.
- Participate in self-improvement activities and staff development; keep current with emerging technologies.
- Collaboratively participate in college grant writing proposals with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff; develop and monitor employee growth/professional development plans; back up other college staff as necessary.
- Ensure areas of responsibility operate within the policies and procedures of the college and applicable governing agencies.
- Represent Peninsula College at state-wide Information Technology meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated customer service skills in past work history, including: excellent analytical and problem solving skills, excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as operation/maintenance manuals, equipment specifications, and procedure manuals, and the ability to write proposals, reports and correspondence.
- Experience must have included a position of responsibility that provided insight into customer service delivery from both a user and providers viewpoint.
- Demonstrated project management skills and leading multiple projects concurrently.
- Successful experience with complex project management and system integration.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and staff.
- High organizational and problem solving abilities with the ability to multitask and prioritize a heavy workload.
Required physical abilities
- Perform moderate physical effort, lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability/endurance to stand/walk for prolonged, extensive or considerable time.
- Occasional reaching/stooping/bending/kneeling/crouching.
- Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with faculty, staff, professionals, students, and the public.
Required work schedule and work environment
- Normal schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
- Must be willing and able to have flexible work hours, including occasional weekends and evenings, in order to complete tasks on deadline or respond to a ITS critical situation.
Required education or certificates
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent coursework and experience in computer science, information technology, business management or a closely related field.
- Technology and/or industry certifications preferred.
- Two years’ information technology technical work experience in education; experience in higher education in Washington State preferred.
Employment Terms
- Full-time annual exempt position.
- Salary: $95,000 - $100,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Peninsula College contributes $913.00 per month towards the cost of the Washington State employee insurance programs. The College also supports professional development.
