Job Description

Researchers at the University of Notre Dame advance human understanding in order to do good in the world. Notre Dame Research is currently seeking an Information Systems Security Program Manager to enhance our ability to do cutting-edge research.

Reporting to the Director of Research Security, this new and vital position offers an ambitious professional the opportunity to manage the information security program for the University of Notre Dame secure facilities. In this role, the ISS Program Manager will work in conjunction with security and information technology management and is responsible for the safeguarding of all classified IT systems, IT material, and hardware on the premises; ensuring the security of all unclassified computing resources through proper network security engineering practices and application of National Institute of Science and Technology Publication 800-53 as required by regulation or instruction; meeting all Defensive Security Service (DSS) training and certification requirements as determined by the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and his/her supervisor. The ISS Program Manager will coordinate with DSS industrial security and IT representatives for inspections and reports. This position monitors Notre Dame network security parameters, traffic and users to identify vulnerabilities and loss of protected data.

The ability to work both independently and with other campus partners is critical for success in this role. NDR supports professional development through internal and external training, as well as participation in professional organizations. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of professional experience in information system security
  • Ability to analyze and interpret federal and non-federal regulations;
  • Ability to learn, use and assist others with using multiple internal and external systems used in research administration;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to interface effectively with multiple faculty and staff on issues within the area of sponsored research in a cooperative, responsible manner;
  • Strong organizational, project management time management, and prioritization skills

Required Professional license or certificates:

  • Must possess a CISSP or equivalent as identified in DoD 8570.01-M
  • Successful completion of agreed upon courses and certifications listed on the DSS Center for Development of Security Excellence website (http://www.cdse.edu/)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for and able to maintain a US Government security clearance with access to Special Access Required information and Sensitive Compartmented Information. Must meet other requirements levied by law, government directive or policy in maintaining access such as financial reporting.
