The University Faculty Information & Support (UFIS) team is seeking an experienced Sr. IT Project Manager to help track multiple software projects for a growing department. This consists of tracking daily, sprint and forecasted activities, reporting to the UFIS Director. The successful candidate will be passionate about software and technology and have great communication skills. The PM will help steer agile-driven development teams in a culture that is constantly experimenting and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Break down Epics into User Stories and help guide the team into breaking user stories into tasks
  • Proactively identify issues, put risk management plans in place to ensure that the issues are mitigated as much as possible and resolve issues in a timely fashion
  • Demonstrate senior-level understanding of process and project management and available project management tools
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalency and at least 7 years of experience in the field or related area.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification may be required depending on area of assignment.

Preferences

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience as a Scrum Master and leading scrum ceremonies strongly preferred
  • Experience in generating project / program reports for executive management
  • High degree of competency with project management including, Agile methodology, identifying and managing risks, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communicating overall project status
  • Ability to negotiate with Product Owner/Product Manager regarding project scope, deadlines, and resources
  • Ability to work with development teams to resolve intra- and inter- team issues, as well as solving and/or coordinating issues with external sources
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • A deep understanding of software development practices in a team environment
  • Experience gathering and documenting system requirements, assessing stakeholder needs and issues, and documenting required processes for medium/large IT initiatives
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to varying audiences
  • Excellent collaboration skills at all levels, with crisp and compelling verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • CSM, PMI-PMP, PMI-ACP or ITIL certifications
  • JIRA and Confluence experience
