EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Responsible for the coordination of technological applications in the administrative operations of the district and for the development, implementation and evaluation of a long range plan for the application of computers and technology in all district programs, instructional and administrative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervises all personnel in the operation of the district software systems, data center/server administration, wired/wireless networks, district wide break fix support, classroom technology integration, and other areas.

Contributes to the development, communication, and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive use of technology to support a digital-age education for all students

Reviews, recommends, and implements district policy for use of computers and related devices.

Oversees the installation and operation of information technology programs for administrative and curricular purposes.

Coordinates required operations with other directors, department leaders, and other personnel.

Develops and implements policies and procedures for the maintenance and management of the central administrative computer systems including finance and student information systems.

Serves as the liaison with all companies that provide technology services or products.

Advises on all computer hardware and software purchases.

Collaborates with various department leaders in the selection and operation of the district technology systems.

Develops and implements an annual operating budget for the operation and maintenance of all system technology networks, hardware, and software.

Develops standards for acquisition and maintenance for district technology programs and systems.

Develops strategic and tactical plans in collaboration with others for software application development, implementation and maintenance.

Focuses on current research on the design and implementation of effective technology operations.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in education, computer science, information systems management and/or network and computer system design and operation or related field. Prior experience as a technology manager in an educational organization preferred. Master’s degree in related field preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical to the success of this position. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Communication will include individual to large group presentations as well as written communications and reports. Must be an effective facilitator in a variety of situations and possess the ability to lead individuals through a complex process of data analysis and interpretation.

COLLABORATIVE SKILLS
Individual must show evidence of a high degree of collaboration when working with the Board, staff, and parents to create new opportunities to embrace and implement change intended to positively impact student achievement. Collaborative and influencing skills are also important when working through conflict and toward problem resolution.

ANALYTICAL and REASONING SKILLS
Individual must have a solid background in data driven leadership and have the ability to interpret data, which may be very complex and varied. Must be able to apply assessment strategies and link assessment data analysis to school improvement, curriculum, and a wide variety of district programs in order to identify and facilitate opportunities for continuous improvement. Individual must be able to apply principles of complex thinking to a wide range of problems and issues that may not have any historical precedent and determine solutions where none are apparent. The ability to identify resources and seek input is critical to the success of this position.

ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
Individual must maintain records and data relating to a wide variety of district and state requirements. Maintaining this information and meeting all reporting deadlines requires very strong organizational skills.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
Individual must be competent in research and information gathering through technology. Must also have the capability to collect and sort data through technology. The ability to present and communicate through technology is required, including spreadsheets, power point and web-based information.

DECISION MAKING SKILLS
Decisions made by this individual can have lasting effects on the district. Decisions regarding technology programs will have an impact and directly affect professional development, curriculum and program design.

OTHER IMPORTANT SKILLS
Numerous projects and critical deadlines require this individual to have excellent time management, project leadership as well as short and long-range planning skills. Must also possess the ability to influence others, as this position frequently must be able to facilitate change that will impact student achievement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position requires general office physical demands. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Generally employee works inside.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Will perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee, necessary and appropriate to achievement of the program and/or District goals and objectives.
