Instructional Tech Consultant

We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Instructional Technology Consultant (ITS 3)

The Instructional Technology Consultant provides enhanced technical consulting on projects impacting individuals and the institution.

This position is responsible for interpreting and translating functional specifications into technical requirements; management of institutional servers, applications, cloud services and technology systems; takes lead in developing new processes and solutions to address business requirements as needed.

Specific Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management of information systems, education/adult learning, instructional technology or related field.
• 3 years of recent instructional technology or related experience relevant to the position’s essential duties.
• 3 years of analyzing needs and determining most effective solutions for stakeholders at an enterprise level.
• Recognized Teaching Certificate (state issued, Sloan-C, or similar), formal teaching experience and/or certificate/experience in professional training and development; or the ability to obtain relevant certification within one year.
• Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

• 2 years of ERP, Learning Management System or similar enterprise administration or administrative experience.

Conducts needs assessments and capacity planning to interpret and translate technology, data, and technical needs to meet the project goals of the institution and community.

• Provides technical consulting on moderate sized projects.
• Communicates relevant technical, process, elements and issues in relation to organizational and capacity needs in sufficient detail by translating technical nuances.
• Evaluates and draws conclusions following structured procedures about the application of a technology and the functional specifications by seeing the holistic view of the needs and tasks required to meet project goals.
• Investigates, researches, and recommends new technology solutions to technological issues identified in capacity planning and needs assessments.
• Applies knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts and practices with technology to solve need requirements.

Consults with and assists institution and community in the selection and use of the most appropriate data, tools, or services to meet requirements and objectives.

• Identifies, explores, conducts and evaluates processes and procedures to meet technological business requirements.
• Integrates new technology, sets up and transitions to new systems and/or deals with the issues related to new technology in anticipation of future needs.
• Provides insightful knowledge of technology trends. Assesses and compares applicable technologies and reports on performance and effectiveness of those technologies to address business requirements and processes.
• Estimates, implements and facilitates projects or tasks both large and small that are accurate, thorough and complete based on required needs.

Provides enhanced technical expertise required to ensure access to required components of institution’s technology infrastructure.

• Devises methods and processes to analyze/evaluate technical problems that deviate from routine or available solutions to ensure resolution.
• Uses creative and innovative solutions, including new methods, procedures, or approaches, to technical problems as well as dealing with incomplete and conflicting information.
• Provides insightful knowledge of institutional systems and processes to work assignments or as guidance to lower level staff.
• Applies technical knowledge of hardware and software to work assignments or as guidance to lower level staff.
• Performs Tier 2 or higher (complex) issue resolution for incoming help requests from users.

Prepares and presents enhanced resource material to internal and external individuals, groups, and key stakeholders.

• Able to diagram or explain relevant processes and issues in sufficient detail during discussions and presentations to foster greater understanding among users, peers, and higher-level management.
• Plans and assesses the training, methods, and techniques being used as resource materials.
• Develops enhanced technical documentation; integrating and standardizing resources across multiple channels.
• Develops and coordinates regional, state, and local technology events.

Investigate learning space solutions based on current technologies and design practices and standards.

• Identifies the combination of educational and technical needs, refines and clarifies the definition of that need, and defines a solution scope that can be feasibly implemented.
• Able to diagram or explain relevant processes and issues in sufficient detail during discussions and presentations to foster greater understanding among users, peers, and higher-level management.
• Assesses solutions to determine performance and effectiveness to original need.
• Develop, design, deploy, and maintain innovative and supportable learning space solutions.

Addresses institution’s needs as assigned through media system, data analytic and course creation consultations.

• Provide insight over a wide range of principles, concepts and practices specifically related to media architecture, 
  data analytics, and learning management systems.
• Complete tasks related to backend elements of media delivery, streaming, and curation.
• Complete tasks related to the collection of data relevant to instruction and learning from disparate sources for data science and learning analytic projects.
• Designs and develops processes and procedures for course creation within institutional learning management systems; assesses the current state of the pedagogy to identify and recommend improvements; and verifies and validates the resulting solutions.
