Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and supervises respective desktop analyst(s) and student worker(s).  The Network Supervisor’s role is to design, build, and implement network systems across the college. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all local and wide area network (LAN & WAN) connections, WLAN, associated software, and communication links. This person will also troubleshoot network performance issues, as well as analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages, supervises, guides, and develops desktop analysts, student workers, and contractors as it relates to network responsibilities.

  • Manages the IT work order (help desk) system daily; Communicates and maintains strong customer service relationships ensuring timely correction of deficiencies / repairs are completed; Identifies and coordinates resolution for IT compliance issues.

  • Provides technical assistance to the IT department; Performs maintenance on IT equipment as required.

  • Develop and implement policies for network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, related documentation, and technical specifications information.

  • Install, Configure and Update Cisco switches, routers, bridges, Access Points (AP) etc.

  • Perform Network Security maintaining firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures.

  • Provide technical support for campus IT infrastructure. Monitor and Respond to Network access issues.

  • Responsible for basic analysis / troubleshooting, system monitoring, moves, adds, changes and day to day maintenance and support of Cisco IP telephony communication systems as required. 

  • Maintain documentation for statistical analysis of all IT related duties performed.

  • Assists in general IT support functions and works with Technical Services staff managing day to day operations of network. 

  • Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components.

  • Network Segmentation and IP assignments.

  • Researches trends, products, equipment, tests, etc. for the purpose of recommending procedures and/or purchases. Inspect, maintain, and where necessary replace network cabling, voice/data jacks, and other network-related equipment.

  • Ensure network and IP connectivity of all workstations, application servers, and back-end office infrastructure.

  • Support Windows XP, Windows 7 and Apple Client Computers.

  • Assist in maintaining Intranet for campus and campus computer labs.

  • Assist with training classes for users related to Intranet and email.

  • Back up Help Desk Admin as needed and maintain users’ service level agreements.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in a computer-related field.

  • Three years work experience in Network Administration.

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required.

  • Proven ability to implement software, establish network connections and manage servers.

  • Proven skills in project management.

  • Advanced knowledge in utilizing the Internet and various social media as a communication tool.
