The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Communications team as a Communications Associate.  We are looking for a candidate who can support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency.  The Communications Associate has two primary areas of responsibility: 1) implementing strategic digital communications efforts with a focus on telling The Bush School story in the digital world, including social media, email newsletters, digital advertising, website, and the Bush portal; and 2) supporting collaborative communications projects including but not limited to basic graphic design work, photography, and data reporting.  A qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks as listed below:

  • Digital Communications: Create and publish weekly e-bulletins, electronic newsletters, and email communications; write and edit announcements and news items; and develop and execute a communications plan for digital screens on campus;

  • Website: Update and manage content on the school website and portal;

  • Social Media: Manage and expand The Bush School’s social media and online presence in partnership with the Associate Director of Communications; measure impact, report results and make recommendations to the Director of Enrollment Management and Communications;

  • Campus Photography: Photograph and film weekly school happenings and school events and maintain online photo library and maintain online photo archive for the school;

  • Communications Support: Provide support for collaborative communications projects including basic graphic design, using templates for posters, signs, invitations, and posters; and provide support for school’s major publications including admissions materials, the alumni magazine, development materials, written content of the school’s website, curriculum guides, parent directory, and families’ association materials;

  • Collaboration: The Communications Associate is expected to respond promptly to all inquiries related to communications and public relations from the schools various constituencies or external sources. In addition, to build relationships with key faculty, parents, and volunteers, ensuring open and fluid communication between communications team, parents, and school leadership. The Communications Associate collaborates closely with a wide variety of departments on campus. Specifically, this position works with the Director of Technology, Database Manager, and staff of the technology department to support communication channels on the website and portal. There is also significant collaboration with the admissions and development teams, as it is essential to ensure messaging alignment across these areas.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field;

  • Professional experience in the execution of marketing, communication, and public relations activities;

  • Ability to coordinate with and support various teams toward the completion of shared communications projects, with a focus on exemplary customer service, effective communication, timelines, and common goals;

  • Knowledge and experience in using social media as a communications and marketing vehicle;

  • Exemplary communications skills in writing, editing, and publishing;

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to initiate, plan, control, and execute a project;

  • Highly motivated for success;

  • Willing to work flexible hours in peak times, in order to complete a project, or on nights and weekends as needed for events;

  • The ability and desire to establish effective working relationships with all school constituents;

  • Strong interpersonal skills that are conducive to working with a highly collaborative team;

  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team;

  • Computer skills: Working knowledge of MS Office suite is required; knowledge of WhippleHill or other web based CMS highly desirable; knowledge of or willingness to learn Adobe Suite;

  • Must enjoy working in school environment; and

  • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities as required.
